Fleetmaster helps Network Rail reach the places others cannot reach

Dated: 12 May, 2021

The nature of the job of many Network Rail workers in helping to keep the UK’s railways infrastructure running is that their teams often must access isolated and difficult to reach locations. Network Rail have mobile response teams around the country often driving off road vehicles to support the railway operation.

One such team operating in the North East approached Fleetmaster to help upskill their drivers and help train them in operating off road vehicles safely and efficiently in all terrains and weathers. Phillip Gowland is the Local Operations Manager in Teesside and instigated the project for his team, he commented.

“I am always looking at ways of improving the skills and safety of my Team and in response to an incident involving a colleague I approached Fleetmaster to see what they could offer with regards to the off-road vehicles we drive. They recommended a course they had that was perfect for our needs at a local location suitable to us. The feedback I received from my team on the 4x4 driving course has been excellent, I managed to observe some of the classroom and practical training first-hand, which I was suitably impressed with. We will be using Fleetmaster again and would have no hesitation recommending them to others”.

Some of the feedback received from drivers who took part in this training was as follows:

“Excellent course, excellent trainer, learnt some new pointers and refreshed positive driving habits took on board feedback to take forward”.

“Excellent training well worth while”

“I learnt a lot about safe driving practices and found the off-road session valuable informative and enjoyable. Excellent course”
